When famous mimic Philip Green took the stage on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013, he had no idea that 11 years later, his funny audition would receive a staggering 21 million views on YouTube.
But it’s hardly surprising that this one audition went viral. Philip’s eccentric stage appearance had judges Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden laughing before he even began his performance, making worried, crazy eyes and mocking his pal Christie’s former profession with the ludicrous comedy of a children’s TV presenter. When Philip finally started the impressions, the audience was already shouting.
Prior to auditioning, Philip had performed alongside BGT’s second season winner, George Sampson, who pushed him to try out himself.
He successfully impersonated Natalie Cassidy in his first line, leading an imagined training video that featured broad squats and hilarious EastEnders jokes. Next, he flawlessly portrayed Lorraine Kelly interviewing Stacey Solomon, even though Stacey’s voice resembled that of an Essex Vicky Pollard.
A classic “How Clean Is Your House” farce followed, with impersonations of Aggie MacKenzie and Kim Woodburn tearing the house down until resting on a spectacular version of “Pineapple Dance Studios” star Louie Spence, complete with the splits.
Amanda Holden was the first to congratulate her, saying, “The beautiful thing about your performance is you had us laughing before you ever did anything,” while David Walliams added, “You’re a very, very funny person. I’d like to see more of you in the act because you, too, are hilariously amusing.
Simon Cowell pulled Philip back to Earth, saying, “It was like the world record for how many impersonations you could do in two minutes.” I struggled to keep up with some of them, but the ones that worked were fantastic. “You’re a naturally funny guy, slightly bonkers, but I like that,” and Philip was sent off stage with four out of four yes votes.
The 21-year-old Body Shop Customer Consultant told judges that he desires to be on stage, and his BGT audition surely helped him get there, despite being eliminated in the semi-finals. Philip, aged 32, is a professional stuntman, YouTuber (@PhilipGreenShow), and actor, with his most recent appearance as Mr. Ludcomb in the 2024 television series “Pickle Storm.”
Philip Green’s amazing audition on Britain’s Got Talent demonstrates his distinct comic flair and compelling stage presence. Philip is a star in the realm of celebrity mimicry, as seen by his viral video, which continues to amaze viewers after years.
