When Dakota Striplin took the stage on The Voice and began singing the timeless song Love Me Tender, the judges were immediately affected.
His voice wasn’t the only thing that shocked them. Dakota surprised the judges with a shocking revelation following his performance.
Several years ago, a charming young guy debuted on The Voice Australia. Dakota Striplin, 24, captivated the evening with his performance of Elvis Presley’s 1956 hit Love Me Tender. The likeness to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was striking. Dakota possessed Elvis’ unique jawline, the same haircut, and, most importantly, a golden voice that evoked recollections of the iconic singer.
Even his nose and brows resembled Elvis’ characteristics. Dakota charmed the crowd with his sweet, honeyed voice and demonstrated his guitar talents, giving an emotional touch to his performance. The audience exploded in cheers, which was unsurprising given that many of them believed they were watching Elvis’ grandchild perform live on stage.
The judges were equally impressed. Before Dakota finished the first stanza, two of them had already turned their seats and pressed the buttons. Guy Sebastian, the third judge, almost clicked the button but halted at the last second, which he subsequently regretted.
But what is the relationship with Elvis Presley about? When compared side by side, Dakota and Elvis bear an unmistakable resemblance. Dakota stated that he could be the King’s grandson, which added to the intrigue.
“I’ve always adored Elvis. He has been my idol since I was a child. However, my father recently discovered that his real father was not his biological father, and he had a long-standing relationship with my grandmother. “She used to work at Elvis concerts and apparently knew him,” Dakota explained.
While Elvis lookalikes do occasionally occur, they rarely have more than a striking physical likeness. Elvis had only one grandchild, Benjamin, who looked exactly like him.
But, regardless of familial ties, Dakota Striplin had amazing skill, and I’m sure Elvis would have liked his version of the legendary ’50s hit. Dakota later demonstrated his flexibility by delivering numerous more songs, including an upbeat rendition of The Lion King’s “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.” Watch the video below and experience his incredible performance for yourself!
